The Mercury Amateur Radio Association (MARA) conducts semi-annual simplex mapping
exercises. The purpose of these events is to build a database of information
regarding the ability to communicate between facilities in the San Diego area
in the case of emergency, specifically when the existing infrastructure may
not support normal forms of communication, or even the use of amateur radio
repeaters. An

description of the maps.
